Visit the Farmer's Market at the Salvation Army Parking Lot Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 pm. On Wednesdays you'll find fresh produce at Faith Regional Hospital from 5 until 6:30 pm. And on Saturdays look for the Farmer's Market at the Sunset Plaza Mall by Herbergers from 10 am until 12 pm.


The Norfolk Public Library will resume regular fall/winter hours on Tuesday, September 7th. The hours will be Sunday 1:30 until 4:30 pm; Monday through Thursday 10 am until 9 pm; and Friday and Saturday 10 am until 5 pm. For more information contact the library at 844-2100.


Stewards of Children Training will be presented by Bright Horizons Wednesday, September 15th. Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 8th.  This training provides 2.5 inservice hours for daycare providers and takes place in the Madison Room at 110 North 29th Street in Medical Offices West/Carson Cancer Center, Norfolk. Awana Carnival and Registration will be held at First Baptist Church in Norfolk on Wednesday, September 8th from 6:30 until 8 pm. Children 4 years old through 6th grade are invited and parents are welcome. There will be plenty of games, hot dogs, and chips. Christian Singer Dallas Holm will be in concert at Faith, Hope & Love Fellowship, 504 Oak Street, Creighton, Nebraska on Thursday, September 9th at 7:30 pm. Admission is free, but a love offering will be received. For more information call Pastor Casey Nelson at 402-847-3400.


The Norfolk Archery Club will host a Whitetails Unlimited 3-D archery tournament on Saturday, September 11th and Sunday September 12th at the club's outdoor range located south of Norfolk on US Highway 81. Turn west on North Airport Road, go 1/4 mile, turn south at the Norfolk Archery Club sign and follow the trail. The tournament is open to the public. Registration both days is from 1 am until 2 pm. An Antiquities Photography fundraiser to benefit Bright Horizons will be held September Thursday, September 9th, Friday, September 10th, and Saturday, September 11th at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Wayne State College will host Family Day Saturday, September 11th from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. The event will include a brunch, entertainment, campus tours, and Wildcats football. Wayne State College students' younger siblings are invited to stay overnight September 10th and 11th to spend the weekend with their older brother or sister in their residence hall. Wayne State College Student Senate will present Wayne Welcome Weekend, Friday, September 10th with entertainment by Johnny Holm from 9 pm until 12:30 am in Godfather's parking lot in downtown Wayne. Tintern 2010 by Norfolk Lighthouse Aglow will be Friday, September 10th and Saturday, September 11th beginning with registration at 5 pm Friday. Advance registration is urged for this praise and worship event highlighted by special speakers. Saturday meals are provided. KNIT 1, READ TOO! will meet in the Norfolk Public Library meeting room on Saturday, September 11th from 2:30 until 4 p.m. KNIT 1, READ TOO! is for new and veteran knitters to share tips, tricks, and new ideas; talk about books; and to meet others who knit. The first Preservation Sunday event of the new season sponsored by Preserve Norfolk will be a tour of the former Norfolk Carnegie Library on Sunday, September 12th, from 1 until 3 pm. Sunday, September 12th the Pilger Senior Center at 119 N Main Street in Pilger will host a Sunday brunch from 7:30 am until 1 pm. The menu includes French toast, pork sausage links, fruit cup, orange juice, coffee and milk. Cost for those over 60 and children under 10 is $3, all others $6.75.


Rally Sunday is set for September 12th at Norfolk First United Methodist Church at 406 W Philip Ave in Norfolk beginning with 8:30 am contemporary worship service, 9:45-10:45 am open house for the newly remodeled Sunday School rooms, introduction to the new Sunday School rotation program, and confirmation orientation for 7th and 8th graders and parents. St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton will hold their annual Smorgasbord and Bazaar Sunday, September 12, serving from 3 until 8 pm. The menu includes roast beef, homemade sausage, vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad bar, and deserts--including homemade pies. There will be lots of family fun and games, horse rides, bingo, concessions, country store, and cash raffle.


St. Leonard's Parish of Madison will hold their annual parish bazaar Sunday, September 12th, serving from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm at the Madison County Fairgrounds. The menu this year is: roast beef, chicken, sausage, Mexican Food, assorted salads and much more. There will be game booths, crafts, raffles as well as scissor, knife, and rotary sharpening and at 2:30 pm an auction.

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and MOMSnext (Mothers of kids 1st grade and up) will have their kick off meeting for the new year Tuesday, September 14th from 9 until 11:15 am at the Stanton Evangelical Free Church at 500 8th Street in Stanton. Fall for the Arts with Judy Moeller will start September 14th at the Norfolk Arts Center. This after-school art class offers each student an opportunity to think like an artist, expand their art skills, gain confidence in their ability to create and learn basic art techniques, concepts and theories while working hands-on. Grades 1 and 2 begin Tuesday, September 14th, grades 3 and 4 begin Wednesday, September 15th. Classes run from 3:30 until 5 pm. This fall semester Wayne State College Gallery will showcase art work from members of the Wayne State College art department faculty, senior art students, and a visiting instructor from Morningside College and a unique calligraphy exhibit in a new campus location, Conn Library. The Basics of Oil Painting with Peg Timmer-Kathol will begin at the Norfolk Arts Center  September 16th and meet Thursdays from 7 until 9 pm. The Norfolk Area Patch (Planned Approach to Community Health) Health Fair will be held at the Cox Activity Center at Northeast Community College Friday September 17th from 7 am until 5:30 pm and Saturday, September 18th from 7 am until noon. Preschool Art with Judy Moeller will be sponsored by the Norfolk Public Library Fridays from 11:15 am until 12pm beginning Friday, September 17th. Children will learn basic art concepts, materials, and skills in a fun, casual environment. The class is designed to help children build confidence, develop social skills and learn problem solving. The Pierce Old Time Threshers Bee will host the Southern Gospel Quartet "Grateful Heart," Sunday, September 19th at 9 am at the Pierce County Fairgrounds in Pierce. ALS in the Heartland is sponsoring an ALS Community Walk Sunday, September 19th at Skyview Lake. Registration begins at 1 pm; the walk starts at 2 pm. This is a fundraising event for Lou Gehrig's Disease and will offer free T-shirts to those who register along with snacks, beverages, and live music by Ember.
